Nail Mines in East Jakarta Being Handled

Head of Operation Section for East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, Riki Erwinda said these various types of nail mines can be dangerous for drivers because they can trigger accidents.

According to him, nail mines were mostly found on Jalan DI Panjaitan and Jalan Laksamana Malahayati.

"We're routinely checking the roads in East Jakarta," he added.

He advised drivers to be more alert, especially at night, by reducing vehicle speed to observe road conditions, avoiding passing through puddles or piles of rubbish because nail mines are often hidden there, and ensuring vehicle lights are working properly so that small objects on the road can be seen.

"If road users know someone is spreading nail mines, please immediately report it to the nearest officer," he continued.

Meanwhile, Jatinegara Satpol PP Head, Teguh ensured action has been taken against unscrupulous tire repairmen. Firm action has ranged from issuing yellow cards to driving them away.

"The controlling was focused on Jalan DI Panjaitan. Tire repairmen who occupied public facilities and sidewalk were also controlled," he stated.

His party is also holding a competition with a prize of Rp 1 million for anyone who succeeds in finding or arresting the nail mine spreader with strong evidence.
